Why is there coprecipitation of genomic DNA in my RNA extractions?
The buffer systems used in our Total RNA Extraction System and Viral RNA Extraction System are designed to maximize RNA binding to the column while minimizing coprecipitation.
The following tips are recommended to prevent coprecipitation:
A. Do not overload the column with starting material. Sometimes it is best to split certain extractions using multiple NucleoPur columns.
B. Completely homogenize samples (tissues) before loading onto the column.
C. Perform an on-column DNase treatment.
